Quality & testing
A purity number on a product page means nothing without the data behind it. Here is exactly what we test, who tests it, and what you receive.
Supplier qualification
Before a supplier enters our catalogue we review their synthesis route, purification method and documentation history. A supplier that cannot produce a reproducible chromatogram does not get a second order.
Independent sampling
Each production lot is sampled and sent to an accredited third-party laboratory. We do not test in-house, and we do not publish our own results as verification.
Purity & identity
Reverse-phase HPLC quantifies purity at 220 nm; ESI mass spectrometry confirms the observed molecular weight against the theoretical value for the stated sequence.
Release & traceability
A lot is released only when both results meet specification. The lot number is printed on the vial and on the certificate, so the two can always be matched.
What the certificate actually reports
Purity by RP-HPLC. The sample is separated on a C18 column with a UV detector at 220 nm. Purity is calculated as the area of the principal peak divided by total integrated peak area, excluding solvent front and known counter-ion peaks. The full chromatogram is reproduced on the certificate, not just a number.
Identity by ESI-MS. Electrospray ionisation mass spectrometry gives the observed mass-to-charge series; the derived molecular weight is compared with the theoretical mass. A match within the stated tolerance confirms the correct sequence.
Additional data. Where relevant, certificates also report appearance, residual water content (Karl Fischer) and, for peptides supplied as salts, the counter-ion.
